Equestrian Safety Equipment: How a Body Protector Works

Body Protectors are made from materials which absorb and spread impact thereby lessening or reducing the injury sustained from a fall or kick.

The Airowear body protectors, one of their equestrian safety equipment ranges, uses two layers of a high density PVC Nitrile foam. The foam is perforated to:

  1. Increase flexibility
  2. Reduce weight
  3. Increase and improve airflow

Why Two Layers?

Two thin layers of foam are significantly more flexible than one thicker layer. Two layers move against each other moulding around the body's curves to give a flexible fit.

The foam is heat sensitive and once worn for 5-10 minutes absorbs heat from the body to become significantly softer and more pliable.
