Jan Byyny is the owner and manager of Surefire Farm in Purcellville, Virginia, where she runs her training, sales and lesson business and hosts two popular horse trials each year. She has represented the U.S. in international competition numerous times, including at the Pan American Championships in 2003 where she won team gold and individual bronze medals with Shared Dreams.

She competed at the Aachen World Equestrian Games and was selected as a team alternate for the 2004 Athens Olympics. She has also completed CCI4* events worldwide, competing at Luhmühlen, Rolex Kentucky, Burghley, Badminton and Pau.

Jan is a Level IV ICP instructor and is an advisor to the United States Eventing Association’s Young Riders and Juniors Committee. She also currently serves on the United States Equestrian Federation’s Eventing Sport Committee as an Elected Athlete and was named a USEF Eventing Selector in 2017.

When she’s not riding and training, Jan enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Tom Finnen and their dogs, Tali and Otis. She also fills her free time with running, hiking, and playing tennis and volleyball.

My two favorites are the Outlyne and the AyrVest. They are fit to measure, so they can work for all body types.

The Outlyne is scientifically designed to offer a tailored fit specific to the needs of the rider’s body type, which maximises the protection offered while allowing unrestricted movement and flexibility.
